Fred came from the corporate world but always belonged to the land. His background in geology means he reads the soil the way other people read a wine list — with genuine curiosity and a lot of questions. In 2021, he left his corporate career to work in the wine industry full time, and Unruly Wines is the natural destination of everything he has learned since.

Fred is the winemaker, the vine whisperer, and the person most likely to be found in the rows checking on something that probably does not need checking on. He brings rigour, passion, and a deep respect for what this particular piece of land is capable of.

Cas has spent her career in operations management and business development — and it shows in everything Unruly does. She studied Viticulture to understand the vines from the roots up, and she manages the business, the brand, and the vision that holds it all together.

She is the reason Unruly looks, sounds, and feels the way it does. Behind every label, every story, and every word is Cas — building something she believes in with the same quiet determination she brought to cutting 5,000 vines back to the graft and starting again from scratch.

Marley is a Maremma — which means he arrived with strong opinions, zero interest in taking direction, and an absolute conviction that he knows best. He was rescued at 12 months old and has been running Wild Vines Estate on his own terms ever since.

His official role is protector of all animals on the property, a job he takes very seriously. He has also appointed himself protector of Fred and Cas, which mostly involves following them at a safe distance and pretending it was his idea.
